How We Got Here

  1. A market stall in San Luis Obispo

    May 11, 2019

A market stall in San Luis Obispo

June bought a bottle of olive oil she did not need from a farm stand run by a man who talked about malolactic nothing and olives everything. She came back the next Thursday for “more oil.” She still has the first bottle — empty, label peeling, non-negotiable.

  2. The harvest we almost lost

    November 5, 2022

    The harvest we almost lost

An early frost warning, one borrowed crew, and forty-eight hours of picking by headlamp. June ran the sorting table, learned to drive the tractor badly, and somewhere around 3 a.m. on the second night decided this was her farm too.

  3. Row nine, tree twelve

    September 19, 2026

    Row nine, tree twelve

Wes proposed at the tree his grandfather planted the year the farm began, with a ring that had been waiting in the workshop toolbox for a month. June said yes before he finished, and they carved nothing into the tree, because you don’t — but they know which one it is.

Before you ask

Questions

Semi-formal, with its feet on the ground: suits without ties, dresses that can handle grass and gravel. Block heels or flats over stilettos. It’s warm gold all afternoon and drops fast after sunset — bring a jacket or wrap for dancing.

We hope you will

Leave a Note

  • Sixty-two years ago I got married fifty feet from that barn. The trees were shorter. The idea holds up.

    Ruthie Marsh

  • The story involves a tractor, a prom tuxedo, and the year 2009. See you all in September.
